She was the 1st woman to do an “inverted ribbon cut,” flying upside down only 10 ft off the ground, slicing a ribbon with her propeller. In 1954, Betty became the 1st woman test driver for the auto industry. She was the 1st woman boat jumper in the US. In 1956, Betty broke a transcontinental speed record. On 10.23.1915, more than 25k women marched up Fifth Avenue in NYC advocating for the right to vote. The women's march was the largest ever held in NYC. The NY Times published an article warning that if women were "granted the suffrage, they would demand all the rights that implies. It is not possible to think of women as soldiers, police patrolmen, or firemen." ('tis true! I can't make this stuff up.) ♀️♀️♀️
